Sunday January 12, 2025
This Sunday, we rejoice in the abundant blessings of God, celebrating our adoption as His beloved children, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and God’s steadfast presence in every trial and triumph. Isaiah 43:1-7 reminds us of God’s promise to be with us as we pass through life’s waters, rivers, and fires, affirming His love and redemption. Psalm 29 magnifies God’s power and glory, declaring His voice over the mighty waters.
In Acts 8:14-17, we witness the Holy Spirit's transformative work, a promise extended to all who believe. The Gospel of Luke (3:15-17, 21-22) recounts Jesus' baptism, where the heavens open, the Spirit descends, and the Father declares His love for the Son—a divine affirmation that invites us into the same identity as beloved children of God.
As we gather at the table of the Lord today, the heavens open for us anew. In the bread and wine, we receive Jesus, God’s Beloved, who sustains us in faith and life. Let us celebrate the Spirit’s presence and our calling to live as cherished members of God’s family.
