“Salt and Light” – Matthew 5:13–20
Jesus’ words in Matthew remind us that faith is not meant to be hidden or kept private. In this sermon, we hear Christ’s call to live as salt of the earth and light of the world—people whose lives reflect God’s love in tangible, visible ways.
Drawing connections with Isaiah’s call to justice, the sermon emphasizes that worship and belief are inseparable from how we treat others. True faith is shown not simply through words or rituals, but through actions that seek justice, show mercy, and serve neighbors in need.
Paul’s message to the Corinthians reinforces this truth: God’s wisdom is not found in power or eloquence, but in Christ crucified. When we rely on God’s Spirit rather than our own strength, our lives become signs of God’s presence at work in the world.
The sermon invites the congregation to reflect on where God is calling them to shine—through compassion, generosity, and humble service. Empowered by grace and nourished at Christ’s table, we are sent out to live our faith boldly, so that others may see God’s love and give glory to God.
