GLOW/RISE WEEKLY UPDATE
Welcome back to a new year of GLOW and RISE! We are so excited to officially begin another year of learning, growing, building friendships, and growing in faith together at Faith Lutheran Church!
We hope you and your family have had a great start to the school year. As we begin this new education year, we are looking forward to all that God has in store for our students, families, teachers, and our entire church community.
WELCOME BACK!
This Sunday, we will officially welcome our GLOW and RISE students back to the education year during worship!
We are excited to have our students and families back and to celebrate the beginning of another year together. This is more than simply the start of another education year—it is the beginning of another opportunity to learn about God, grow in faith, build friendships, and discover how we can share God's love with others.
IGNITING THE LIGHT
Following worship, we will kick off our education year with a special Ignite the Light celebration!
Students and teachers will first meet in their classrooms. From there, each class will come together and make their way to the front of the church (outside). We will then gather together as one GLOW/RISE community and light sparklers to symbolize the beginning of our new year!
The light reminds us that God's love shines through each of us, and we are excited to begin this year by letting that light shine brightly.
We can't wait to see all of our students and teachers gathered together!
SO MUCH TO LOOK FORWARD TO!
We have a lot to look forward to this year! From weekly classes and special activities to service opportunities, friendships, celebrations, and opportunities to grow in our faith, we are excited about everything ahead.
Most importantly, we want GLOW and RISE to be a place where every student knows that they are welcomed, valued, loved, and part of our church family.
Thank you to all of our families and teachers who help make this ministry possible. We are grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside your children as they learn, grow, and discover what it means to live out their faith.

Register Now! (GLOW - RISE - FLY)
Registration for the upcoming Confirmation and Education year is now available. Please take a few minutes to complete the registration forms as we begin planning for the year and ordering materials.

- Students in RISE and FLY have two different registrations to complete.
- All students completing registration must also complete the Media Release Form.
- Please complete registrations by August 31 so I can provide teachers with accurate and current classroom rosters.
- I will be reaching out to everyone to confirm their registrations.

Ignite the Light Sunday | September 13 | 10:00 AM
Students are encouraged to attend worship as we welcome everyone back for another education year!
Following worship, students will meet briefly in their classrooms for attendance and then head outside to the front of the church by approximately 10:15 AM. We will “Ignite the Light” with sparklers to signify the beginning of our new education year.
Once we are finished, teachers will dismiss students back to their parents.

Fire Department Tour | September 20 | 10:00 AM
Students will meet in their classrooms for attendance before we leave from the front of the church and walk to the fire station at approximately 10:05 AM.
Parents: If your student needs to be picked up right at 11:00 AM, please be aware that we will likely still be at the Fire Department. Last year, we were still there at that time. I would estimate that we will return to the church around 11:30 AM.

Confirmation Class | September 23 | 5:45 PM | Upper Room
We will provide a light supper for Confirmation students, including items such as cheese, crackers, sausage, vegetables, and other snacks.
If you would like to contribute something, please let me know what you are planning to bring so we can make sure we have a good variety and don't end up with too much of one item.
We also understand that sports schedules can make arrival difficult. If your student will be arriving late, that's okay—just let us know ahead of time.

Christmas Program | Practice Begins October 4
Christmas Program practices begin Sunday, October 4, from 6:00–7:00 PM.
We are excited to begin preparing for this year's Christmas Program, which will be held on Saturday, December 19 at 4:00 PM, with a potluck dinner following the program.
Speaking Parts
The October 4 practice will be specifically for students who have speaking parts in the Christmas Program. Additional practices will be scheduled as we get closer to the program, and more information about those practices will be shared with families.
We are strongly encouraging students in grades 3–5 to consider taking a speaking part. These roles are a great opportunity for students to be involved, grow in confidence, and help share the Christmas story with our congregation.
Confirmation students are also welcome and encouraged to participate! If a confirmation student would like to have a speaking part, we would be excited to have them involved. Confirmation students who participate will also be able to receive service hours for their involvement in the Christmas Program.
If your student is interested in having a speaking part, please reach out to Justin so we can get them connected and make sure they receive the information they need.

Get ready for a great night of fun! Our 8th graders will be organizing and putting on this year’s Trunk or Treat event. They’re excited to take the lead and create a fun experience for our church and community. More details coming soon!
2. First Communion Classes — 2nd Grade | Sundays, October 18 & 25 | 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM
Our 2nd graders will begin preparing for their First Communion through two special classes on October 18 and 25. More details will be shared with families as we get closer.
