FLY Weekly Update | October 5, 2026
October is off to a great start, and there is a lot ahead for FLY! We are excited to continue creating opportunities for students to have fun, grow in faith, build friendships, and make a difference in our community and beyond.
Here are a few important updates and upcoming opportunities for students and families:
October 10 — FLY Youth Night at Marshfield Escape Room
We are looking forward to our upcoming FLY Youth Night at the Marshfield Escape Room!
A confirmation email has been sent to everyone who previously expressed interest or indicated they were still checking their availability.
Please confirm your attendance by Wednesday, October 7 at 12:00 PM.
The escape room will begin at 5:30 PM, so students attending will need to arrive by 5:15 PM for check-in. Additional details will be shared with those who confirm.
2027 FLY Mission Trip — Denver, Colorado!
Our 2027 FLY mission trip destination will be Denver, Colorado! We are excited to begin planning for this opportunity to serve and make a difference together.
We are now working to determine our initial group size. First-round registration is due by October 31.
Even if you are still considering whether you will be able to participate, please make sure you complete the first-round registration by October 31 if you are interested in going. By simply sending me an email that you are interested.
Having these initial numbers will help us determine how many adult leaders will be needed and allow us to begin working through the details of the trip.
FLY Italian Dinner — Volunteers Needed!
We are also beginning to prepare for our upcoming FLY Italian Dinner fundraiser on November 7, and we need to start getting confirmations from those who are able to help.
There will be a variety of ways to serve, including food preparation, setup, serving, cleanup, and other areas throughout the evening. When responding, please indicate which area you would like to assist with, or let us know if you are open to helping wherever needed.
If you are able to help, please let me know as soon as possible so we can begin putting together our volunteer teams.
Your help makes these FLY events possible and helps us continue providing opportunities for our students throughout the year.
FLY Registration Reminder
If you are currently part of FLY or would like to continue being part of FLY, please make sure you have completed the FLY registration.
Keeping registration information current helps us make sure we have accurate contact information and the information we need to communicate with students and families throughout the year.
Important for 8th Grade Confirmation Students: If you registered for GLOW but are also participating in FLY, you need to register for both programs. Registering for GLOW does not automatically register you for FLY.
There is a lot happening with FLY, and we are excited about what is ahead! Thank you to our students, families, and adult volunteers for continuing to be part of this ministry.

We are excited to be going back to the Marshfield Escape Room! Those who have expressed interest in attending have been contacted by email. Please respond to that email by Wednesday, October 7 at 12:00 PM to confirm your attendance.
FLY Advisory Team Meeting | October 14 | 5:30 PM | Upper Room
FLY Advisors will gather to review recent events, discuss what’s coming up, and talk through upcoming opportunities for our youth ministry. Anyone interested in learning more about the FLY Advisory Team is welcome to sit in on a meeting, ask questions, or consider joining the team!

United Way Make a Difference Day | October 24 | Quilt Loading & Fall Cleanup
On Saturday, October 24, FLY will be gathering to help with two important service projects at Faith.
Quilt Loading — 8:30 AM
We will be helping the Piece Corps load their truck with quilts. The more hands we have, the quicker we can get the job done!
After the quilts are loaded, we'll turn our attention to some fall cleanup around the church, including:

- Cleaning windows
- Trimming weeds
- Trimming bushes
- Cleaning out window wells
- Picking up garbage
- Other outdoor cleanup projects
FLY 2027 Mission Trip — Denver, CO | October 31
The destination has been chosen! After collecting input from our youth and families, Denver, Colorado will be the destination for our 2027 FLY Mission Trip.
Now that we know where we’re going, our next step is determining who will be joining us and beginning the planning process for the trip.
October 31 — First Commitment Deadline
October 31 is our first commitment deadline for the 2027 Mission Trip.
If you are a youth or adult who is interested in participating, please let me know by October 31. At this point, you are not being asked to make every final commitment or payment—you are simply letting us know that you are interested in going so we can include you in our initial participant count.
This first count is important because it will help us determine:
We will also be looking for adults who are interested in serving as leaders for the 2027 Mission Trip.
If you are interested in being an adult leader, please let me know by October 31 as well. Once we have an initial list of interested adults, we will have an individual conversation with each person to talk through the trip, expectations, responsibilities, and what serving as a leader will look like.
The goal is to make sure we have the right number of adult leaders in place and that everyone understands what will be involved before we move further into the planning process.
What Happens Next?
Once we have our initial participant and adult leader numbers, we will be able to continue working through the details of the trip, including registration, transportation, lodging, fundraising, and other planning needs.
