Brick by Brick: Building Faith Together!
A weekly reflection and a look ahead at Faith Lutheran Church.
A weekly reflection and a look ahead at Faith Lutheran Church.
This Week’s Reflection
In Jesus' parable from Matthew 21:33-46, the tenants of the vineyard seem like they’ve come up with quite a crazy scheme so that they can inherit the property they're renting. The landowner has leased it to them while he goes away to live in another place. Then when the harvest comes in, he sends his servants to collect the rent. But the tenants beat, stone and even kill his servants over and over again. So then he sends his son and the tenants kill him as well. You see, the tenants are hoping that if there’s no heir and the landlord stays abroad until he dies, then maybe they will inherit the vineyard. And then they’ll get to keep the extra produce not just for one season, but forever.
This parable sends a clear message to all of us. God has lovingly and graciously called us into the vineyard of his kingdom. He has grafted us into the branches that are deeply rooted in him. God’s intention is that we produce a full, rich harvest of good fruit. The challenge for all of us is this: Will we have the courage to be faithful stewards of the vineyard and bear good fruit in Jesus’ name?
On Sun Oct 4, we celebrated "The Blessing of the Animals" and remembered St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. We welcomed Maggie, the therapy dog, and Puppets of Faith taught us more about St. Francis and his love of God's creation. Marty Haugen's "Now the Feast and Celebration" liturgy added a lively, spirited musical setting to our worship experience.

Piece Corps | Quilt Sunday & Quilt Loading
Quilt Sunday - October 18, 2026 | 9:00 AM
The quilts created by our Piece Corps ministry are a beautiful way to share God’s love and care with people around the world. We’ll celebrate this ministry during Quilt Sunday on October 18, when we’ll bless the quilts and the hands that helped create them.
Quilt Loading — Saturday, October 24 | 8:30 AM
After Quilt Sunday, we’ll gather to load all the quilts into the truck for delivery. Many hands make light work! Come lend a hand as we prepare these beautiful gifts to be sent out as tangible signs of God’s comfort and care around the world.
Whether you sew, help behind the scenes, or simply come to help load, thank you for being part of the Piece Corps ministry!

Small Group Opportunities
FALL FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Please sign-up in the Gathering Area for one (or more) of the following opportunities to get to one another better this fall....
Men’s Group – Are there any men who are interested in getting together once-a-month for breakfast and Devotions/Bible study?
German Baking – Last year we had a successful Scandinavian Baking event on a Saturday morning that was led by three Faith Lutheran members. This year we have had a request to try a German Baking event. (Black Forest Chocolate Cake or Feffernuts, anyone?)
Dinner Groups – For the past 2 years, we have had several “Dinner for 8” groups meet periodically for food, fellowship and reflection. In fact, some groups are still meeting! This is an opportunity to meet fellow worshippers in a relaxed setting and make new friends.

Happy Fall Everyone!
It's that wonderful time of year when there's a crispness in the air, the leaves are turning red, yellow and orange and it's time to turn the oven on!
We have many great bakers in our congregation, men and women alike. But we don't want to take away any time from your many other duties, chores, family, etc. just because it's time for our 3rd annual No Bake, Bake Sale! So, leave the mixing bowl, measuring cups, flour and sugar in the cupboard and write a check to FLC Women.
This is how it works. You determine how much it would cost you to bake something for a Bake Sale. Include the cost of ingredients, your time shopping, baking and helping at a sale. Then write a check for that amount to FLC Women and indicate No Bake, Bake Sale on the Memo line. Isn't that easier than baking?
This year all funds received will be divided between four entities. One-fourth to our Capital Campaign, one-fourth to FLY Mission Trip, one-fourth to LWR Shipping Fund (to defray costs of shipping quilts) and one-fourth for Personal Care Kits through Piece Corps..
So, put on your baker's hat and think about what it's worth to you to not bake something for a bake sale. Then write out your check, bring it back to church no later than November 1st and place it in the offering collection plate.
We thank you from the bottom of our muffin tins!
