Dear Faith Family,
Sun Oct 11 is Indigenous Peoples Sunday, when we worship from the spiritual perspective of our Indigenous neighbors.  On this Sunday, we remember that Lutheran witness to the gospel with American Indian and Alaska Native people has a history of more than 350 years.  Relationships with American Indians and Alaska Natives in the ELCA are firmly grounded in reconciliation and the mutual building up of the saints — people of all backgrounds, tribes, regions, communities, congregations and unique needs. As we grow in our awareness and understanding of native peoples, we hope to find ways to build future relationships with our native friends and neighbors.
Our First Reading from Isaiah 25:1-9 gives us a vision of the great feast to come, when God will wipe away death forever.  In our Gospel reading (Matthew 22:1-14),  Jesus tells a parable about a great banquet.  Those who are invited do not come, so the invitation is extended to others. Indeed,  God spreads a table before us each and every time we gather for worship. Even amid anxiety and hardship, we can rejoice in the peace of God which surpasses all understanding. With great joy we feast at the table of the Lord, and we go forth to share the wonderful invitation with others hungering and thirsting for the abundant life of God.
We look forward to welcoming our Faith Lutheran Choir, directed by Kaitlyn Konrardy, as they sing "Consider the Lilies" by Hoffman/Lyon.
Can’t join us in person? We invite you to worship with us through our livestream on YouTube!
