This Week’s Reflection
What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus in our world today? In Philippians 2:1-13, Paul urges us to look to Christ as a model of humility, putting the interests of others above our own. Even if we are sometimes reluctant, like the son in Jesus’ parable (Matthew 21:23-32) who initially says he will not go to the vineyard but eventually goes, we are motivated to carry out the work to which God has called us because of the baptismal grace we have received. Nourished by the broken bread and shared cup, we offer our lives for the sake of our needy world.
On Sunday we welcomed Deacon Lidixe Montoya, who shared a Temple Talk about her work with the NW Synod's "Neighbor to Neighbor" ministry. Deacon Montoya seeks to build bridges between Anglo Lutherans and the Hispanic/Latino community in our synod. She encouraged us to reach out to others who may speak a different language and/or have a different skin color than ours, especially as we strive to live out our mission, "Loved by God - Living for Others."
Our worship service was filled with lively Spanish songs and liturgy as Nancy Young and Kathy Biederwolf accompanied us on guitar and piano. Also we welcomed our new Choir Director, Kaitlyn Konrardy, and heard our Faith Choir lift up a beautiful anthem, "All Praise the God of Harvest."

Blessing of the Animals
Our annual Blessing of the Animals is coming up on Sunday, October 4, and we’d love for everyone in our Faith Lutheran family to participate!
Do you have a pet that you would like to share with the congregation? Send us a photo of your pet along with their name and breed, and we’ll include them in a special slideshow during worship on October 4.
This year, we will not be holding the Blessing of the Animals outdoors, so please do not bring your pets to worship. Instead, we’ll celebrate them through the photos you send in, giving our whole congregation an opportunity to see and celebrate the animals that are special to our families.
Whether you have a dog, cat, bird, rabbit, horse, or another beloved companion, we want to see them! We encourage everyone to participate and help us make this a joyful celebration of God’s creatures and the many ways they bring love and happiness into our lives.

Small Group Opportunities
FALL FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Please sign-up in the Gathering Area for one (or more) of the following opportunities to get to one another better this fall....
Men’s Group – Are there any men who are interested in getting together once-a-month for breakfast and Devotions/Bible study?
German Baking – Last year we had a successful Scandinavian Baking event on a Saturday morning that was led by three Faith Lutheran members. This year we have had a request to try a German Baking event. (Black Forest Chocolate Cake or Feffernuts, anyone?)
Dinner Groups – For the past 2 years, we have had several “Dinner for 8” groups meet periodically for food, fellowship and reflection. In fact, some groups are still meeting! This is an opportunity to meet fellow worshippers in a relaxed setting and make new friends.

We are looking for volunteers to serve as a GLOW Host of the Day throughout the upcoming year. This is a simple but important way to support our GLOW families, teachers, and volunteers each Sunday.
As a GLOW Host, you may:

Happy Fall Everyone!
It's that wonderful time of year when there's a crispness in the air, the leaves are turning red, yellow and orange and it's time to turn the oven on!
We have many great bakers in our congregation, men and women alike. But we don't want to take away any time from your many other duties, chores, family, etc. just because it's time for our 3rd annual No Bake, Bake Sale! So, leave the mixing bowl, measuring cups, flour and sugar in the cupboard and write a check to FLC Women.
This is how it works. You determine how much it would cost you to bake something for a Bake Sale. Include the cost of ingredients, your time shopping, baking and helping at a sale. Then write a check for that amount to FLC Women and indicate No Bake, Bake Sale on the Memo line. Isn't that easier than baking?
This year all funds received will be divided between four entities. One-fourth to our Capital Campaign, one-fourth to FLY Mission Trip, one-fourth to LWR Shipping Fund (to defray costs of shipping quilts) and one-fourth for Personal Care Kits through Piece Corps..
So, put on your baker's hat and think about what it's worth to you to not bake something for a bake sale. Then write out your check, bring it back to church no later than November 1st and place it in the offering collection plate.
