Brick by Brick: Building Faith Together!
A weekly reflection and a look ahead at Faith Lutheran Church.

This Week’s Reflection

On Sun Nov 1, we celebrated All Saints' Sunday at Faith Lutheran Church. Following our time for Confession & Forgiveness, our worship service began with the congregation singing, "For All the Saints, who from their labors rest." Then our service continued following the Prayer of the Day with our congregation recognizing five students who received their First Communion. Puppets of Faith presented a special puppet skit for First Communion, with those receiving their First Communion returning to their seats with a certificate and gift bag in hand.

All our Scripture readings for All Saints' Sunday reflected the theme of eternal life and salvation. In I John 3:2 we read, "Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is." Indeed, I John 3 declares that a saint is one who has been set apart by God for God’s purposes. God, out of divine love, set us apart to be the children of God. Our holy hope is that we shall see God as God really is.

In our Gospel reading, The Beatitudes (Matt 5:1-12), Jesus provides a unique description of those who are blessed with God’s favor. His teaching is surprising and shocking to those who seek wealth, fame, and control over others. Surrounded by the faithful of every time and place, we celebrate Christ’s coming in our midst in the word of life and the feast of victory—the marriage feast of the Lamb.

On Nov 1, we lifted up all those in prayer who had died in Christ during the previous year and committed their spirits to God's eternal love and care. We also celebrated with the newly baptized and recognized five 2nd Grade First Communion students. At the Lord’s table we gathered with the faithful of every time and place, trusting that the promises of God will be fulfilled and that all tears will be wiped away in the new Jerusalem.
Nancy Young (guitar) and Kathy Biederwolf (piano) led us in a unique liturgy setting with a Latino-inspired song theme.

Small Group Opportunities

FALL FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: Please sign-up in the Gathering Area for one (or more) of the following opportunities to get to one another better this fall....
Men’s Group – Are there any men who are interested in getting together once-a-month for breakfast and Devotions/Bible study?
German Baking – Last year we had a successful Scandinavian Baking event on a Saturday morning that was led by three Faith Lutheran members. This year we have had a request to try a German Baking event. (Black Forest Chocolate Cake or Feffernuts, anyone?)
Dinner Groups – For the past 2 years, we have had several “Dinner for 8” groups meet periodically for food, fellowship and reflection. In fact, some groups are still meeting! This is an opportunity to meet fellow worshippers in a relaxed setting and make new friends.

GLOW Host of the Day - Sign Up Now!

Help make Sunday mornings welcoming and run smoothly!
We are looking for volunteers to serve as a GLOW Host of the Day throughout the upcoming year. This is a simple but important way to support our GLOW families, teachers, and volunteers each Sunday.

As a GLOW Host, you may:

Welcome students and families as they arrive.
Assist with student check-in and check-out.
Help teachers with printing, copying, or gathering materials.
Help gather supplies teachers may need during the morning.
Provide general support in the Education Office.

The commitment is flexible! You can sign up for just one Sunday or choose to help on multiple Sundays throughout the year.

We're looking for friendly, organized individuals who enjoy helping others and creating a welcoming environment for children, families, and volunteers.

A small role that makes a big difference in helping our Sunday mornings run smoothly!

Interested in helping? Sign Up Now or reach out to Justin with questions.
