GLOW/RISE Weekly Update - 09.28.26
OCTOBER IS HERE!
We are already three weeks into our program year, and it has been wonderful to see so many kids coming through our doors each week! We are excited about everything happening at Faith Lutheran Church and look forward to continuing to learn together, grow in faith, build friendships, and share God’s love.
Monthly Student Letters
Students should have gone home with their monthly letters yesterday. These letters will be sent out once a month and are designed to give families a quick look back at what we have been doing, highlight some of the things happening in our programs, and share what is coming up.
We know families may not be able to participate in every event, but our hope is to provide plenty of opportunities for your kids to be part of a safe, welcoming, friendly, and fun environment where they can grow in their faith and friendships.
Offering During Music
Beginning this month, we will start passing the offering basket during our music time, just as we do during worship on Sunday mornings.
If your child needs envelopes, please let me know and I would be happy to get some to you. RISE Confirmation students will give their envelopes in their classrooms.
Having our students participate in offering is a simple way to help them learn about generosity, stewardship, and how even a small gift can make a difference. It gives them an opportunity to see that what we give can help support ministries, people, and programs that share God's love with others.
This fall, we will continue collecting offerings for Paisley Paws.
GLOW Christmas Program
Christmas will be here before we know it! GLOW Christmas Program practices begin this Sunday, October 4.
Students in grades 3–5 are strongly encouraged to participate in the reading portions of the program and are asked to attend the practices beginning this Sunday.
Students who are not participating in the reading portions will be part of the songs in the program. Their music will be practiced during our regular GLOW time.
RISE Confirmation students who would like to help with the Christmas program are also welcome to participate. Students who assist will have the opportunity to earn service hours.
We are excited to see our students help with the Christmas program through a story, music, and their gifts!
Family Spotlight Sunday
We would like to continue the tradition of Spotlight Sunday that we have done over the past few years, but this year we are changing it up a little!
Rather than having an entire class participate together, we are inviting families to sign up and serve together during Sunday worship.
There are several ways families can participate, including:
We had our first family participate this past Sunday, and we want to give a big thank you to the McCann family for helping!
This is a great opportunity for families to serve together and for kids to see firsthand that they have an important place in the life of our church.

We meet once a month to discuss upcoming events and ways to help our education programs grow and thrive. We’d love to have you join our fun and dedicated team!

Blessing of the Animals | October 4 | 9:00 AM
Our annual Blessing of the Animals is coming up on Sunday, October 4, and we’d love for everyone in our Faith Lutheran Church family to participate!
Do you have a pet that you would like to share with the congregation? Send us a photo of your pet along with their name and breed, and we’ll include them in a special slideshow during worship on October 4.
This year, we will not be holding the Blessing of the Animals outdoors, so please do not bring your pets to worship. Instead, we’ll celebrate them through the photos you send in, giving our whole congregation an opportunity to see and celebrate the animals that are special to our families.
Whether you have a dog, cat, bird, rabbit, horse, or another beloved companion, we want to see them! We encourage everyone to participate and help us make this a joyful celebration of God’s creatures and the many ways they bring love and happiness into our lives.

Christmas Program | Practice Begins October 4
Christmas Program practices begin Sunday, October 4, from 6:00–7:00 PM.
We are excited to begin preparing for this year's Christmas Program, which will be held on Saturday, December 19 at 4:00 PM, with a potluck dinner following the program.
Speaking Parts
The October 4 practice will be specifically for students who have speaking parts in the Christmas Program. Additional practices will be scheduled as we get closer to the program, and more information about those practices will be shared with families.
We are strongly encouraging students in grades 3–5 to consider taking a speaking part. These roles are a great opportunity for students to be involved, grow in confidence, and help share the Christmas story with our congregation.
Confirmation students are also welcome and encouraged to participate! If a confirmation student would like to have a speaking part, we would be excited to have them involved. Confirmation students who participate will also be able to receive service hours for their involvement in the Christmas Program.
