FLY Weekly Update | A Great Start & What's Ahead! | 09-14-2026
What a great way to kick off another year of FLY! Thank you to all of our students, families, and adult volunteers who helped make our Sizzlin’ Sunday BBQ such a success. It was a great day of serving together, having fun, and supporting FLY — and we couldn't have done it without all your help!
Now that we've kicked off the year, we're already looking ahead to what's next. Youth Night is this Wednesday, our Kiwanis K.E.E.P. service opportunity is coming up, and we have another great opportunity to serve together with our Quilt Loading & Fall Cleanup Day in October.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped with Sizzlin’ Sunday!
Whether you helped prepare food, serve meals, work the games, set up, clean up, or simply showed up and supported the event, you helped make the day a success. It was a great kickoff to the year ahead, and we're excited to see where this year takes us!
We also want to give a big thank you to our sixth-grade students who helped with the BBQ as part of their service work. We appreciate you stepping up, helping out, and being part of making the day a success!

Help us make this an awesome event for the kids by volunteering with FLY! There are several ways to help throughout the weekend, and youth who volunteer can earn money toward their FLY Serve & Earn Fund.
Come serve, have some fun, and help make K.E.E.P. an incredible experience for kids in our community!

Come ready for great conversation, fun, faith, and maybe even a little friendly competition! Bring your energy, your questions, and your friends.

United Way Make a Difference Day | October 24 | Quilt Loading & Fall Cleanup
On Saturday, October 24, FLY will be gathering to help with two important service projects at Faith.
Quilt Loading — 8:30 AM
We will be helping the Piece Corps load their truck with quilts. The more hands we have, the quicker we can get the job done!
After the quilts are loaded, we'll turn our attention to some fall cleanup around the church, including:

I’m beginning to gauge interest in attending the next ELCA Youth Gathering. This event brings together thousands of Lutheran youth from across the country for worship, service, learning, music, and fellowship.
At this point, I’m simply looking to see how much interest there is—this is not a commitment.

FLY 2027 Mission Trip — Help Choose Our Destination!
At last week’s FLY Advisory Team meeting, we began laying out the timeline for our 2027 FLY Mission Trip. One of the biggest decisions we need to make is where we’re going!
Current Poll Results
Based on the responses we’ve received so far:
Denver, CO — currently leading with 4 first-choice votes
Raleigh, NC / Charlotte, NC — tied for the next spot with 4 second-choice votes (NO First-Place Votes)
Salt Lake City, UT — currently has 1 fourth-choice vote
The poll is still open, so these results could change as more responses come in!
September 30 — Mission Trip Destination
September 30 is our deadline for choosing the destination for our 2027 mission trip.
We want our youth and families to have a voice in this decision. If you would like to help, choose where we go, please send me your top three choices from the options below — or explore the additional opportunities through the links provided and suggest another destination.

Once our destination has been selected, October 31 will be the deadline for youth and adults to commit to participating in the 2027 mission trip.
